Small group sessions

At Joe's Study Space, my small group sessions are designed with a maximum of five children, ensuring that learning remains personalised and tailored to each child’s individual needs. With my experience as a primary specialist, I’m able to provide the same high level of 1:1 support you'd expect from private tutoring, while fostering an interactive and engaging environment where children can bounce ideas off each other, build confidence, and thrive in a less pressured setting that optimises learning.
WHY ARE GROUPS MORE
EFFECTIVE THAN 1:1?

- 1:1 tutoring can put pressure on the student and cause learning anxiety.
- Building relationships with peers fosters a positive learning environment.
- Collaborative learning means children can learn from each other and engage in valuable peer discussion.
- Group work encourages discussion and sharing ideas, which can lead to deeper understanding.
- Children learn from each other's strengths, strategies, and questions, enhancing understanding and engagement.

Group tutoring can typically result in around four months of progress for students. Research indicates that students who are struggling academically tend to benefit most from group tutoring.

At first, I wanted private one to one tuition for my child. After a few group sessions, I began to see the power of them learning as a group. Lots of opportunities for discussion, learning from one another and laughter! Less pressure and more learning.

INSPIRING, SUPPORTIVE & ENJOYABLE
My groups are carefully selected based on year group and current ability levels, ensuring each child receives the appropriate level of support and challenge. I work with children who need to build confidence, fill learning gaps, and enjoy their lessons in a fun, supportive environment.
I also make it a point to discover shared interests among the children and ask them about their current passions to help me plan and resource my lessons.
This approach ensures that the learning is created to engage and inspire the children, making new learning enjoyable.
INDIVIDUALISED, NURTURING SUPPORT

I understand the value of focused, nurturing environments. In these small groups, I can give each child the time and attention they need, offering individualised guidance.
A RANGE OF FUN ACTIVITIES

From team games and treasure hunts to maths competitions and story telling, the children work together, challenge each other and build lasting friendships.
